WELCOME
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we
welcome you to the 5th International
Conference on Phosphonate Chemistry, Science,
and Technology (ICOPHOS-5) that will be
held in Perugia from 17 to 19 September 2025.
The conference continues a vibrant tradition of
bringing together leading experts, researchers,
and professionals from around the world to share
their discoveries and advancements in the field
of metal phosphonate and phosphinate chemistry,
the heart of many breakthroughs, from materials
science to pharmaceuticals. The Conference is
organized by the members of the Inorganic
Chemistry group of the Department of the
Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Department of
Chemistry, Biology and Biotechnologies of the
University of Perugia and will be held in
Perugia, Italy, a beautiful city with a
remarkable cultural and artistic life and an
outstanding architectural heritage. The
conference will take place at the ancient
Benedictine Abbey of San Pietro, in the city
centre. This beautiful location, rich in history
and culture, founded in 962, is now home to the
Department of Agricultural, Food and
Environmental Sciences of the University of
Perugia, whom we thank warmly for kindly hosting
us. Our conference series began in 2018 in
Swansea, United Kingdom. The series continued in
Europe (Berlin and Liblice) even during the
challenging global circumstances and most
recently, the 2023 meeting in Heraklion, Greece
organized by Prof. Kostas Demadis of the Crystal
Engineering, Growth & Design Laboratory
(Department of Chemistry, University of Crete)
was further testimony to the importance of this
series in bringing together diverse
perspectives, promoting collaboration and
advancing the frontiers of science and
technology in our field.
The conference programme will include two
presentation formats, oral presentations and
poster presentations.
